This afternoon I read part of Nick’s posting of a meme of female scholars (here)and Pat’s mentioning (here) of a woman named Rachel who has a biblioblog (here) that he wanted to promote. I began to think about my own extensive library (most of it is still in California), as well as the long list of links I have placed here, and I realized I do not have much female influence on my thinking regarding biblical studies/Christian theology.
Is this bad? Good? Neutral?
Should I go out of my way to start reading more female writers? Or should it come to me, like other scholars I have found helpful, through footnotes, book reviews, and so forth?
Does it hurt that I have never sat under a female theology/biblical studies professor?
