About a week ago I went to Powell’s Books here in Portland (the world’s greatest bookstore) and I purchased some books that will be helpful for reading DSS/Qumran literature. The first is The Dead Sea Scrolls and Christian Origins by Joseph Fitzmyer. The second is Eschatology, Messianism, and the Dead Sea Scrolls by Craig A. Evans and Peter W. Flint. The third is The Bible at Qumran: Text, Shape, and Interpretation by Flint. These three books are from the “Studies in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Related Literature Series” by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. I think these will be helpful.
Similarly, I found another book by Evans titled Ancient Texts for New Testament Studies: A Guide to the Background Literature. A year ago when I was in a class where we were studying canon formation my professor said this would be a necessary tool and I am glad I bought it. It looks like a great resource for finding the relationship between NT literature and literature that is related in some way.
Does anyone have these books? Have you found them useful?

Evans’ book is indispensable. I won The Bible at Qumran from a contest Esteban held a while back but I haven’t really delved into yet. Given the list of contributors (Flint, Evans, Sanders, VanderKam, et al.) I’m sure it’s helpful.
