There is a ranking of the top one hundred and forty-one “relevant” church blogs. We didn’t make it and I don’t think any other bibliobloggers made it either. I guess we are all irrelevant. See the list here.

I quit!
Robert,
Don’t quit, just don’t write so much about Scripture! 😉
I was thinking of writing more secret sensitive type blogs, or how to make your church grow in 90 days, going to call it CX90
Yes, good idea. Anything with the words “secret”, “new”, or “church growth”will be helpful.
Oh good I’ll start adding those to my tags!
I dropped off all those lists long ago…. 🙂
Brian,
You need to go to some conference at Mars Hill in Seattle. I think you’ll get your “relevance” jive back…or something emergent.
Very interesting that Desiring God (Piper) is number #1 and Al Mohler is # 7. Reformed Baptists are alive and well!
I have never once been considered relevant in my life, and I don’t plan for that to change any time soon!
Robert,
In American Christianity we have pendulum swings. Piper, Driscoll, Mohler and crew are popular because they are anti-McLaren, Jones, Padgitt. Soon they will all wither and fade away!
Esteban,
I don’t know about that. The glasses in your picture look relevant, no?
Jim will be devastated…
I think Jim could change things if he’d slick his hair back, wear “Bono glasses”, and stop talking about Zwigilawhateverthatguysnameis.
Brian,
McLaren is not doing so bad, blog wise. But both Piper and Mohler are hitting the centre of Reformational and Reformed theology. At least at the pastoral level. I noted Ligonier Ministries (which is also Reformed) is doing well, blog wise too. It appears “Calvinism” is alive and well, at least at some level also. I thought you were Reformed, in some manner?
I noticed that last time a top church blog role came out that there were no bibliobloggers on it. Apparently church issues and Bible issues just don’t run in the same circles.
I think Esteban is relevant and he’s just going to have to live with that 😉
Biblioblogs rock. (When I can find time to read them these days. When I am a fully certified librarian, I may start a Biblioblog library!)
Brian> My glasses are only relevant inasmuch as they permit my reading. They are plastic frames because for when I used metallic frames, they invariably turned green, and I got sick of that. They’re black because more flamboyant colors upset me. And they’re Armani Exchange with Progression lenses because both commodities were on sale that day. 😉
Bitsy> You have no idea just how easy it is for someone to be cast out from my kingdom… 😉
In reality the Church and the Bible should be very close in the sense of the blog. As I noted, it seems Reformed theology is doing well in the reality of the Church blog. So “church” and “bible” issues should run close together. If one notes on many personal blogs, it is hardly “Bible” and “Theology”, but the political issues that run the day.
Note the blog of Perry Robinson, Energetic Procession (word press) he is Orthodox. I know Esteban must read it?
Brian, yeah, maybe if I blog about “the violent prize fighter Jesus who’s got a tatto on his leg a big long sword and a command to make someone bleed” – yeah!! that’s the relevant Jesus!! The manly one we can all serve!! Yeah!!! lol…. ugh….

I could have told you that!
Now, now… don’t get upset for being obscure (not irrelevant). There are some biblioblogs on there like Scot McKnight’s Jesus Creed or Parchment & Pen. They both regularly discuss matters biblical and theological (although they’re generally not worth the time it takes to read them, imo). The difference is that they draw millions of readers (or at least hundreds of thousands) to all of our thousands. But vive la révolution! We don’t want to be like them!
I will say that The Right Reverend Vázquez is not now, nor has he ever been, “relevant.” Such “relevance” would imply an assimilation to the culture which is marked by moral decay and unfaithfulness. The Honorable Brother Prophet Father J. Esteban V(el)ázquez, D. Theol., Esq. has long been a beacon of hope in the dark and dreary world of repugnance in which we live. His wonderfully witty biblioblog is undoubtedly the last bastion of academic standards on the interwebs as can be seen by doing a simple comparison between it and all those blogs of “relevance” which are the blogging equivalent to LOL Catz. “Me wuvz me sum Jeezuz — U shood wuv him 2 — dat wood b spesh-L,” is about as deep as they go. I say we eschew all such lists with all of our being! It’s what Señor J. E. Vázquez de la Jesus, Ph.D., M.D., MMA would do!
And that’s all I have to say about that. 😛
Roger: I think you did once. 😉
Nick: Hilarious! True, McKnight and the P&P folk are kinda biblioblogs so I guess I was a bit inaccurate.
I looked over the list and was very disappointed….not one Lutheran blog (unless I somehow missed it, but I highly doubt that.)
Craig,
I guess Lutherans are no longer relevant because Luther is dead…or something like that.
Yeah…but there is that whole Reformation thing…
Craig,
Yeah, but half of the people that are “relevant” don’t know Christianity goes back before 1776 and the other half only know of Calvin.
Craig, one thing I did notice was the high number of Calvinst bloggers. Makes you wonder.
I just want you to know, that comment made my morning.
Craig, me too!
Maybe the blog has become “Irrelevant”? Where’s my Bible and the Book of James? lol BTW I have been reading my new copy (black genuine leather) of the new HCSB Study Bible. So far very nice!
I just discovered the Biblioblogosphere and will be sure to add Jeremy Thompson’s list of Biblioblogs to the next update of Church Relevance’s Top Church Blogs list.
I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of these blogs yet. There is lots of good content.
Kent,
That would be great. There are a lot of amazing blogs in the biblioblogosphere!
Oh, there you go. You’re all relevant now! 😉
Finally! 😉
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Not until the next list update. 😉
