Today is the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) “World Philosophy Day” 2010. You can learn more about it here.
Since the world is talking philosophy the question must be asked: Which philosopher has influenced you the most over the years?
Even though I just recently began interacting with his works I would say that soon enough Hans-Georg Gadamer will be the one who has formed my way of thinking the most. I guess I could throw the Apostle Paul in the mix as well, though I wouldn’t call him a “philosopher” via the modern sense of the word.
Aristotle.
That’s easy for me, old Thomas Aquinas, and many Catholic philosophers. And here the Western Philosophers…Plato to Aristotle, etc. But I love to read Plotinus!
Kierkegaard and Charles Taylor I think.
C.S. Lewis
I’ve often wanted to give time to Kieregaard.
Kieregaard is good, but a real Christian existentialist and somewhat an iconoclast.
Frantz. Fanon.
