If Nick Norelli lived in the Portland area (for seminary, let’s say), this is where he would be every day:

Just be sure not to skip your seminary classes, Nick. 😉

Would he be studying with you at GFES or Josh and I at Western? 🙂
He would never move to the freakin’ PNW. Why, he lives in New Jersey! How can you expect a man to give that up? I dream of living there every day. Well, there, or Pennsylvania.
Jersey?! Isn’t that where one finds that short, fake-baked TV star girl?
Brian: Why, he would be at Multnomah Seminary, of course. 🙂
Esteban: For MMA, Nick would move anywhere.
@JohnDave: MU does need a good theo-blogger. 🙂
At your service.
Brian: You’re right about our beloved Multnomah. On second thought, Next Level MMA is within a mile radius of GFES, so I would have to say GFES. 🙂
Esteban: Correction—for MMA and theology, Nick would move anywhere. 🙂
@Bobby: Do alumni count? I think there needs to be a current student. JohnDave and I are current students. 😉
Oh, I see your point; I suppose on that front Cortez could qualify as a MU theo-blogger . . . woops 😉 .
Isn’t Halden still a student at good ole’ MBS?
Is he? I didn’t know he was still in seminary. Maybe he is the MU blogger.
Well, as far as I know, he never graduated from MU (btw, it’s weird for me to call it “MU” . . . it was still MBC and MBS when I was there 🙂 ).
Getting back to Norelli, if he goes to seminary anywhere — and its still on the east coast — he should go to Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and sit under Andrew Purves . . . that’s what I would do if I were Nick 🙂 .
Let me clear all of this up… If I were to train MMA it would be around the corner from my house at Ricardo Almeida Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Hamilton, NJ. Almeida’s BJJ lineage goes straight to the Gracies who invented the art. And I’d also mention that UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar trains there, so if it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me!
Now, if perchance I were to move to the PNW for some ungodly reason, I suspect I might train with Team Quest in Portland, OR. There I’d have the advantage of training with veterans such as Dan Henderson (former Pride Fighting Championship middle and light-heavyweight champion) as well as Matt Linland and Chael Sonnen (the only man alive to dominate current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva [even though he ultimately lost in the last 2 minutes]).
Seminary’s not so clear cut. I suppose if I was in the Portland area then Western would be as good a place as any to go (I mean that Marc Cortez is a purdy kool dude). If I stuck around here then Princeton Seminary is always a possibility but who really wants to spend a few years studying systematic theology (like, really, what else would I study at PTS?). So perhaps Westminster in Glenside, PA would be a viable alternative. The problem there is that the faculty isn’t as stacked as it once was. I’d love to take an apologetics course with Oliphint or Edgar, but past that there’s not much that appeals to me. I guess that Beale might be worth taking a few classes with but only if they were on the NT use of the OT. as far as Pittsburgh goes, it might be fun to sit on one of Allison’s classes and just argue with him all day about the historical Jesus. 😉
@JohnDave: It appears Team Quest is closer to Western and MU, so we win there. Also, it appears that Marc is the coolest blogging professor in the NW, so Western wins there. It looks like Western wins this one!
Of course, it doesn’t look like Nick’s coming this direction anytime soon.
Brian and Nick: All right, I wave the white flag in defeat. 🙂 As an alternative, Nick, you could train to eventually take over Next Level MMA and then begin your own seminary from the very same building. The Pacific NW needs to know how MMA and theology go together. 😉
JohnDave: I thought that Mark Dricoll already took care of that! 😛
Ha!
LOL!
