Sorry to break the deep theological and biblical depth of Near Emmaus 😉 for such a simple question but I have not been able to find any inforamtion on an updated NIV Study Bible. Could someone from Zondervan please tell me if there are plans in the near future to release the NIV Study Bible with the 2011 text? If so, will the Study Bible be completely revised to match, if not better, the ESV Study Bible?
Many thanks!
I am not an official spokesman for Zondevan in any way, shape or form, but I do know that there will be a NIV Study Bible with the new translation and new notes. It is being edited by D. A. Carson.
Wow, good pedigree. Where did you hear this?
Hi Mark,
I’m not a representative from Zondervan either but as a retailer I work closely with them. The word I have from them is that the updated NIV Study Bible will be released this fall. The notes will be tweaked to coincide with the updated NIV. It will also be in full color. I have not heard anything about D. A. Carson editing a Bible for Zondervan or anyone else for that matter. That would be significant news.
About a month ago I believe I saw on the Zondervan website a release date of October for the new Study Bible.
Did you try posting on the Koinonia Blog?
I can confirm what is being said here already, that the NIV Study Bible will be available in the updated NIV text this October. All of the study notes have been revised to match the updated NIV text. And the Bible will now be 4-color throughout!
I would also be happy to provide a review copy when they are ready in a couple of months. If you are interested let me know (caleb.williams (a) zondervan.com).
Thanks so much!
