I tried to embed this video but for the life of me I couldn’t get it to work. If you’re interested HERE is a video of Eugene Peterson speaking to PBS regarding his new book, “The Pastor”. It is quite possibly the best interview I have seen of Peterson. In so many ways Peterson embodies what I think a pastor should be. Caring, scholarly and Jesus centered!
Among some of the interesting things Peterson says I loved this, “People have been treated as consumers for so long they don’t know how else to live!” How true is this!
It was also interesting to hear he gives away all of the proceeds from The Message and his other book. Nice. I hope you enjoy the video!
Thanks for the link. One thing I found fascinating about his story in The Pastor is him saying “the Pastor John of Patmos epiphany in New York City catalyzed my identity as pastor.” (p139) It seemed he was going to a be professor until this revelation. He thinks of John as the patron saint of pastors. I have struggled finding Revelation useful and he experienced it as a major influence in his life. I am currently reading Revelation in the Message bible with new enthusiasm. I am also looking forward to his book “Reversed Thunder: The Revelation of John and the Praying Imagination”
