Apparently, Jeremy Thompson is trying to convert me, again. He is subversive. Rather that tell me why he wants me to become a Roman Catholic (besides the one time he threatened me with purgatory) he went through all the trouble of getting a job with Amazon.com, then overriding the algorithm he made the website suggest the following books in my “More items to consider” section:
I called him on it on Facebook, but he denies it. He says if he wanted to convert me he’d send the Jesuits. Touché!
Wait, you meant to tell me that don’t you have all of these already?!
I have the second one on the list, but it is in French, because I bought it in Europe and I thought it would be good for helping me maintain my French!
Jeremy will tell you that you need at least the first three in no fewer than 5 languages–each. 😉
Great! I’ll never be good enough…. 🙂
On a related note, Catholic Memes is awesome. Look them up on facebook sometime.
I do like memes!
If the Jesuits aren’t (yet) at your door — count your blessings! (I’m nearly convinced the Mormons were trained by the Jesuits …)
On a different note .. how is Pope Benedict XVI as a theologian? … as a protestant, is he credible?
I’ve read many non-Catholics who enjoy him. He seems to be quite respected amongst traditional Christians of various forms, whether Orthodox, Anglican, big “E” Evangelical, or conservative mainline. I don’t know that he has gained a hearing for liberals/progressives, or skeptical scholars (though I don’t think he cares either). I have not read much of his writings, though I have wanted to do so.
