I like this, except that it presupposes a clear translation of μακάριος as “happy.” In reality, I don’t think it’s as clear that this is the case.
Also, on a related note and by a strange coincidence, a friend of mine just shared this video from Slavoj Žižek on the illusion of happiness:
Agreed, “happiness” may be a slightly simplistic translation, but I think happiness is part of the concept provided to us by μακάριος. Then again, I guess we need to define the English word “happiness!”
Enjoyed the Zizek video! He is intense.
