My wife showed it to me yesterday and I said, “This is a great parable for exegesis!” For example, modern scholars have noted that while the doctrine of justification is important to the message of the Epistle to the Romans when all you seek to find is this one thing you will ignore a lot of the epistle’s content, especially the central argument regarding the unity between Jews and Gentiles in the Church in Rome (which is why so many exegetes stumbled over chapter 9-11 for so long). Remember, its hard to see something when your not looking for it!
