Simon Schama, professor of history and art history at Columbia University, was on The Colbert Report last night promoting his new book, The Story of the Jews: Finding the Words (1000 BCE – 1492). I thought the interview was pretty fascinating (though Colbert, true to his character, frequently interrupts). Schama also makes a reference to the “Yahweh and his Asherah” archaeological find at Kuntillet ‘Ajrud. The book and the accompanying documentary both look well worth checking out. Have a look:
